With the evolution of the internet many repetitive and mundane tasks have become automated thanks to various websites and some great developers.  These tools can help you save time every day. 

When tasked with finding a new job, it can become a job in itself.  Several websites offer tools that can help save you time and effort when searching for your next job.  On the internet opportunities come and go very quickly.  Whether it is a new job posting that is immediately overloaded with responses, or a breaking news story that can clue you into the opportunity of dreams, you want to avoid missing any opportunities.  With the advance of RSS feeds and automatic alerts you can stop checking sites for new jobs and breaking news, and start focusing on networking and preparing for your next interview.

Onward Search Quick Tip #3 - Know Your Resume

Your resume is a one+ page summary of your jobs (past and present), experiences, accomplishments, and personal interests. When you go into an interview and hand off your resume you are giving the interviewer(s) a brief representation of yourself.  This is why you need to know every aspect of your resume and be able to talk about every bullet point, headline, fact, and figure.  The interviewer will interpret what you hand them and ask you to elaborate and explain each of point they might find interesting or incomplete.

A critical, but often overlooked, step before you go into an interview is to ensure you research as much as possible beforehand about the company, the job you are interviewing for, and the interviewers.  Having detailed knowledge about the company and people that you are interviewing with will increase your opportunity to “ace” the interview and get the job offer you are looking for.  Here’s a short list of questions you should be asking in each of these categories:

Job hunting is one thing everyone dreads doing...Updating your resume, an uncertain future, and endless interviewing.  If you are hunting for a job, 99% of the time it means you are:

a) Unhappy
b) Unemployed
or
c) Both.
