We’re looking to hire a Principal Tools & Pipeline Technical Artist for a leading AAA game development studio. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team committed to cutting-edge gaming technology and world-class production pipelines.

You’ll join the Technical Art team to develop and support artist-facing tools, pipelines, and workflows. This is a long-term contract opportunity. The role is located in Los Angeles, CA and is Remote.

Principal Tools & Pipeline Technical Artist Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain the art pipeline framework and artist-facing tools for Character Art, Environment Art, Animation, Rigging, and VFX

• Collaborate with engineering and tech art teams to enhance internal tools, address bugs, and expand tool functionality

• Partner with end users to validate requirements and test tool usability

• Participate in planning, task breakdown, and effort estimation

• Conduct and receive peer code reviews; incorporate feedback from artists and developers

• Troubleshoot pipeline issues affecting production workflows

Principal Tools & Pipeline Technical Artist Requirements:

• 6+ years experience as a technical artist in games or similar industries

• Proficiency with Maya, Unreal Engine 5, and Python scripting

• Experience with 3D character-based production pipelines

• Commitment to writing maintainable, testable, and scalable systems

• Experience building UIs in tools like Maya, Unreal 5, Substance, or Photoshop

• Version control experience with Perforce and Git

• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills

• Experience with Unreal 5 Blueprints and C++ programming
