We’re looking to hire a Senior Internal Communications Contractor for a remote opportunity with East Coast availability. This is a senior-level contract role supporting a global, technology-driven organization. Join a high-impact Corporate Communications team focused on enterprise-wide technology and transformation initiatives. In this role, you’ll serve as a strategic advisor to executive technology leaders, drive clarity and engagement around key change programs, and help establish a scalable, future-ready technology communications function.

Senior Internal Communications Contractor Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a senior communications advisor to executive Technology, Enterprise Digital, and Transformation leaders.

  • Lead, mentor, and guide communications resources (direct or dotted-line) throughout the engagement.

  • Help define the operating model, resource plans, and long-term requirements for an FTE technology communications function.

  • Plan, shape, and execute internal communications campaigns for technology releases, program milestones, process changes, and major transformation updates.

  • Translate complex technology concepts into clear, actionable messages that drive understanding, alignment, and adoption.

  • Partner closely with Technology and Corporate Communications to align messaging frameworks, narrative arcs, and change communications toolkits.

  • Develop internal memos, leadership announcements, intranet articles, FAQs, talking points, executive scripts, and town hall run-of-shows.

  • Support communications for adoption and training efforts, ensuring employees know what is changing, when, and why.

  • Manage and enhance intranet hub content; support enterprise newsletters and email communications.

  • Optimize Teams, Slack, and other collaboration channels as appropriate.

  • Build and maintain a transformation communications plan, editorial calendar, and governance structure.

  • Coordinate internal events such as briefings, AMAs, information sessions, and roadshows, including logistics and follow-ups.

  • Report KPIs for communication channels and campaigns, including reach, engagement, sentiment, and adoption metrics.

  • Use data insights to refine communications plans and demonstrate measurable impact.

  • Establish playbooks, RACIs, message maps, and approval workflows to increase consistency, quality, and speed.

  • Support incident and issues communications for technology releases, ensuring timely, accurate updates to impacted audiences.

Senior Internal Communications Contractor Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of senior-level communications experience, with demonstrated success in internal, change, or transformation communications.

  • Strong project management skills and experience leading complex workstreams end-to-end.

  • Proven people leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, and developing communications teams.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; able to capture executive voice and simplify technical content for diverse audiences.

  • Experience supporting large, global, matrixed organizations or agency environments.

  • Skilled in CMS and intranet platforms (e.g., SharePoint) and familiar with Microsoft 365 and collaboration tools (Teams, Viva Engage/Yammer).

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to define KPIs and leverage insights to optimize communications.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Experience supporting CIO/CTO organizations, enterprise platform migrations, or change-management frameworks (e.g., Prosci) (preferred).
