Onward Search is a specialized staffing and talent solutions company that helps professionals find top jobs with leading brands. We’re hiring a Software Engineer III for a client in the technology sector. This is a 6-month contract opportunity that is fully remote.

In this role, you’ll join the Platform Developer Experience (PDX) R&D Studio team to help drive the next generation of developer infrastructure and tooling. You’ll work on large-scale monorepos and build systems, collaborating with infrastructure teams to improve workflows and developer productivity.

Software Engineer III Responsibilities:

• Work with Bazel and help scale monorepos to millions of lines of code.

• Own and maintain Bazel and related abstractions to enhance developer experience.

• Collaborate with adjacent infrastructure teams to define best-in-class monorepo workflows.

• Develop and maintain tools for large monorepo-based codebases.

• Troubleshoot complex problems and propose effective solutions.

• Promote a culture of high developer productivity.

Software Engineer III Qualifications:

• Experience with Bazel build system and ecosystem (e.g., rulesets like rules_jvm_external, IntelliJ Bazel plugin).

• Fluency in Java, Python, Starlark, and TypeScript.

• Experience developing and maintaining tools for large monorepos.

• Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset.

• Passion for improving developer workflows and infrastructure.
