We’re hiring a Drupal 11 Developer for a leading digital media and technology organization. This is a 4-month remote contract opportunity starting in January.
In this role, you’ll join the Development / Engineering team to architect and implement a fully decoupled Drupal 11 backend supporting a React/Node application. You’ll collaborate closely with front-end developers to create a modern, high-performance web architecture and scalable editorial systems.

Drupal 11 Developer Responsibilities:

Architect, configure, and develop in Drupal 11 using a headless/decoupled approach.

Build component-based modules and structured content systems aligned with front-end components.

Create custom editor/admin interfaces, including custom fields, Layout Builder enhancements, and editorial dashboards.

Develop custom modules, entity types, editorial workflows, and API integrations.
-
Implement and optimize JSON:API, REST, or GraphQL endpoints for React/Node consumption.
-
Collaborate closely with front-end developers to shape API structures for React components.
-
Ensure clean entity modeling, permissions, roles, and content logic for scalable editorial workflows.
-
Configure caching strategies (Drupal Cache API, Dynamic Page Cache, CDN layers).
-
Manage Composer workflows, configuration management, and CI/CD pipelines.
-
Work with Azure deployment patterns such as Web Apps, DevOps pipelines, or container-based deployments.

Document architecture, APIs, and editorial tools for technical and editorial handoff.
Drupal 11 Developer Qualifications:

3–5+ years of Drupal development experience, including Drupal 11.

Strong experience designing component-based Drupal modules and content systems.
-
Proven ability to create custom editor experiences for content teams.

Expertise in decoupled Drupal using JSON:API, REST, or GraphQL.

Experience with React, Next.js, or similar JavaScript front-end frameworks.

Strong PHP/Symfony experience and proficiency with Composer, Drush, and Twig.
-
Skilled in entity modeling, taxonomies, views, and editorial workflow design.
-
Comfortable collaborating with React/Node engineering teams.
-
Experience with Git/GitHub workflows and modern CI/CD practices.
-
Experience deploying or managing applications on Microsoft Azure (preferred).

Familiarity with Acquia or Pantheon hosting (preferred).

Understanding of authentication patterns (OAuth, JWT, SSO) (preferred).

Docker or container-based development experience (preferred).

Experience integrating third-party APIs (preferred).
