Our team is seeking a Production Artist to support a growing backlog in our clients custom printing department. This is a manual, craft-based production role, focused on creating physical mockups using vinyl and other materials.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands in a production environment—similar to a traditional production artist role, but not computer or digitally focused.

This is a short-term assignment (initially 1–2 weeks, potentially extending to 3 weeks), with the possibility of recurring, as-needed work throughout the year for strong performers.

This role will be onsite in a professional and warehouse office in Waukegan, Illinois.

Production Artist Responsibilities:

  • Apply vinyl sticky plastic and related materials to create custom mockups
  • Perform precise manual tasks using tools such as X-ACTO blades
  • Assist the production team in clearing a backlog of custom print work
  • Learn the company’s mockup process quickly (training provided)
  • Work independently after initial training to complete assignments efficiently
  • Maintain accuracy and quality in hands-on production work

Production Artist Qualifications:

  • Experience in physical mockup creation, production art, or hands-on craft work
  • Comfortable working with materials like vinyl, cutting tools, and adhesives
  • Strong attention to detail and steady hands for precise manual work
  • Ability to pick up processes quickly (approximately 1–2 days of training)
  • Reliable and able to work on-site during standard business hour

  • Recent design graduates with some production or print experience
  • Experienced production/mockup professionals looking for short-term project work
  • Individuals with a strong hands-on, craft-oriented skillset
