We’re seeking a Data Engineer II for a remote, long-term contract opportunity with a leading video game developer and publisher based in Los Angeles, CA. This company is known for its player-first culture, creative innovation, and collaborative environment.

As a Data Engineer II, you’ll join a talented team focused on building scalable data systems that power game development and enhance player experiences. You'll work with modern tools and technologies like Python, PySpark, Airflow, and Databricks while partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain scalable backend data systems and reusable telemetry solutions.

  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and data scientists to build data services that support multiple titles.

  • Ensure all solutions follow best practices in maintainability, scalability, monitoring, documentation, and service quality.

  • Build efficient, production-ready data pipelines to support game development lifecycles.

  • Prioritize the security and privacy of player data in all engineering solutions.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a data or software engineer (including internships and academic projects).

  • Proven ability to design and implement mission-critical data systems from the ground up.

  • Proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, and tools like Airflow and DBT.

  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and Databricks.

  • Strong background in building and modeling data infrastructure in complex business environments.

  • History of mentoring junior engineers and promoting team development.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python preferred; Java, Scala also beneficial).

  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.

  • Experience with business analytics, Spark, BigQuery, and orchestration tools like Airflow.

  • Understanding of AWS services related to data management.

  • Experience in collaborating with software teams to define test strategies for data pipelines.

To qualify for our benefits package, you must work over 30 hours per week, and the assignment must last a minimum of 10 weeks.
