We’re looking for an Information / Content Architect for a remote opportunity based in the Los Angeles, California area. This is a contract role through January 2026.
In this hands-on position, you’ll bring clarity and structure to organizational knowledge, balancing tactical execution with long-term system design. You'll work directly with real content to untangle current challenges, eliminate duplication, close content gaps, and clarify ownership. Simultaneously, you’ll help lay the groundwork for scalable knowledge frameworks that support advanced retrieval, personalization, and automation.
This contract role runs through January 2026, operates Monday through Friday during regular business hours, and offers a pay range of $65 to $75 per hour (paid weekly). It is remote, but candidates should be located in the Orange County, CA area to be considered. This position is benefits eligible.

Information / Content Architect Responsibilities:

Design and maintain lightweight classification models and metadata patterns that support current contributor needs and scale for AI-driven solutions.

Create, restructure, and organize content across multiple platforms (Coda, Confluence, Google Drive, etc.) to ensure clarity, consistency, and usability.

Establish and apply tagging, naming, and structural standards to maintain organization across tools such as Zendesk Guide, Contentful, Airtable, and Google Workspace.

Conduct audits of knowledge bases to remove duplication, close gaps, and improve trust in available content.

Define and implement practical rules for scope, ownership, and versioning (e.g., global vs. regional content, team vs. function ownership).

Develop contributor-friendly documentation and guidance for standards adoption, ensuring sustainability of processes.

Build simple, repeatable frameworks that solve immediate organizational needs while supporting future automation, personalization, and advanced retrieval.
Information / Content Architect Qualifications:
-
Proven experience in knowledge management, information architecture, or content modeling, with hands-on examples of applying these practices in real-world, complex environments.

Ability to operate effectively at both system-level design (schemas, taxonomies, ownership models) and asset-level structuring (rewriting instructions, reorganizing documentation, cleaning drives).

Familiarity and proficiency with key tools, including:

Zendesk Guide (knowledge bases for service workflows)

Contentful (structured, API-first content management)

Coda (team docs, checklists, playbooks)
-
Confluence (collaborative team documentation)
-
Airtable (structured playbooks, catalogs, inventories)

Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)

Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to transform ambiguity into clear frameworks and rules.

Skilled communicator who can explain design decisions in simple, operational terms for service teams.

Comfortable working in ambiguous, evolving environments and iterating as frameworks mature.

Practical and hands-on, with a preference for building real solutions rather than abstract models.

*Eligibility requires working over 30 hours per week on an assignment lasting at least 10 weeks.
